and the question about which position, A B C, last question, what did u write and why?
1- I said forward reaction is exothermic because it is favoured by low temperature thus producing bor ICl3 which is yellow in colour
2- C because Mr of HBr is 81 while the other compound was only 45 so It diffuses faster than HBr and so within the same time, HBr diffuses less than the other compound!
i wrote forward reaction is exothermic since a) bond forming is exothermic, and b) high temperatures decrease the yield of exothermic reactions so if low temperatures increase the yield, that must mean the reaction is exothermic 🙂
For the last question i chose C, because ethylamine had a lower value of relative molecular mass (45) whereas hydrogen bromide hada higher value (81) ethylamine would diffuse faster 🙂
Can’t really remember for the first one. But for the last I chose position C, because the HBr molecules were heavier, so would diffuse more slowly than the other one.
It was A because one of the gases will diffuse faster .
I wrote C because HBr is heavier in terms of relative molecular mass therefore it will diffuse slower.

Molecular mass of ethylamine is 45. Of HBr is 81, hence ethylamine can travel faster and diffuse at faster rate so white solid produced near HBr which is indicated by C

A as the Mr of that compound was ”almost” double the Mr. of the CH3CHOOH (i’m not sure if this was the compound but its Mr was almost half of the other sub so we know that when an object is heavier, it moves slower sothe compound forms near the non-organic compound…

Decrease in temperature will favor the exothermic reaction (which they said was the forward reaction) so the yield will increase. 🙂
The forward reaction was exothermic. And it was c, we had to find the Mr.

Reaction is exothermic, because low temperatures favor exothermic reaction and more yiield produced.
the forward reaction is supported by cold temperatures showing that it is exothermic as only endothermic reactions require the heat energy and cooling removes heat making it an exothermic reaction…

no Saibi, it wasn’t A… it couldn’t have been because HBr was on the right side and it had a greater molar mass, so it diffused slowly and took more time than ethylamine…

I said: exothermic because under high temperatures, it becomes a backward reaction, which is endothermic. so forward reaction is exothermic.
C, because the mr of HBr is smaller than that of the ethylamine (81>45) so it diffuses slower causing the white solid to form at C.

No, you won’t get penalised for writing more. Just make sure you wrote on the proper space and make a note to the examiner to read further on.
I made an * sign where i stopped and another sign where i continued is that ok
how do we give a note?
For example you could write “continue to next page”… then on the page where you continue your answer, write another note “continue from question XX”.
i normally search for a page that got some empty space and then write “see page xx for the answer “
