I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

HEEY GUYS I have a business doubt! could someone explain Hire Purchase to me? it sounds a lot like Leasing to me so im confused now :/
They are both the same thing ,except hire purchase you get to own it eventually. If u are leasing u won’t own it.
The difference between hire purchase and leasing is that for hire purchase, the business will be owning that asset but already start using it despite them only paid $10 000 (let’s say the price of the asset which is a building is $100 000). They would be paying $10 000 plus an interest charge every month, and until they’ve paid $100 000 in total (which will be after 10 months) the business would have a full ownership over that building. On the other hand, leasing is when you are using that asset, and you are paying every month but you will never have a full ownership over that asset no matter how long you’ve been paying and using that asset. The business is only renting that building. Hire purchase is when you are purchasing an asset by paying the producer with monthly payments (and not a full payment at once) while leasing is when you use an asset, but does not actually purchase it.
I hope this helps? Please tell me if you’re still confused. ;;
Hire purchase is known as open-ended leasing. on HP, the business in question pays interest/rent of whatever it has hired, but at the end of the Hire Purchase contract, the business has the option to either return this hired good (or whatever it is) to the Leasing company, with an interest payment. The other form of leasing, which is closed-ended leasing, requires the business to purchase what it has leased at the end of the contract. In both cases the business pays interest/rent, and the leasing company covers maintenance/repair costs in the case of any fault or problem/damage with the hired/leased equipment.
Oops, forgot to mention that at the end of a HP contract, the business can either return what it hired or purchase it permanently 🙂
Hire purchase : A fixed amount is paid for a period of time until you have reached the final payment. E.g Tom wants to buy a car that costs $12,000, and the company decides to he
can pay $1,000 per month until he has covered the cost of the car(this will take him 12 months). upon his first payment he will own the car and will be responsible for its maintenance. On the other hand leasing is similar to renting. If Tom chose to lease the car for 3 months,he will not be responsible for it nor will he own it. The leasing company will be responsible for all maintenance.At the end of the leasing period Tom will give the car back to the company.
I hope I helped 🙂
Hire purchase is when you buy a fixed asset but you are allowed to pay monthly and with interest while leasing is like borrowing with the option of buying at the end of your lease.
thanks guys! appreciate it!!! 🙂 helped alot
hire purchase is when you purchase something, but pay for it in installmentss (e.g 10,000 every month) ..
any last minute revision tips for psychologyyy :s
anyone doing the psychology paper?
Does anyone have exam papers and answers from 1990 – 2001?
They actually don’t help much because the syllabi have changed a lot since then.
Hey IGCSE Centre,
If someone is taking 7 subjects and they get 5 plain As from the 7 subjects, the other 2 could be Bs and below, would that person still get a Distinction with their 5 plain As?
Yep! This is how it works for a distinction: Five A’s or above, two C’s or above, and you can get anything else for the rest of the subjects. But the minimum subject number is 7.
The extract from CIE website is here:
International Certificate of Education (ICE)
To qualify for an ICE certificate, a student must obtain at least grade G(g) in each of seven subjects. These must include two subjects from Group I (Languages) and at least one subject from each of Groups II (Humanities ), III (Sciences), IV (Mathematics) and V (Creative, Technical and Vocational).
ICE certificates show the level achieved in the ICE group award:
?
DISTINCTION is awarded if a student obtains grade A(a) or above in five subjects and grade C(c) or above in two further subjects;
?
MERIT is awarded if a student obtains grade C(c) or above in five subjects and grade F(f) or above in two further subjects;
?
PASS is awarded if a student obtains grade G(g) or above in seven subjects.
An IGCSE certificate will be awarded to failing ICE students who obtain a minimum of at least one grade G(g) in a syllabus.
Students who achieve ICE in one series will receive an ICE Statement of Results and two separate IGCSE and ICE Certificates.
Two series ICE students will receive a certificate for the individual subjects taken at the end of the first series and two separate IGCSE and ICE certificates at the end of the second series.
