I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example Iโm a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. Iโve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

Hi!
Could you pls offer some time management tips for paper 1 0500 FLE?
Also, for paper 2, they always mention ‘possible evaluation points’ in the MS, if I evaluate something completely different from those ideas that are mentioned in the MS, would I get credited?
Thank you so much!

Hi!
My teacher said that we shouldn’t count the number of words in the summary question for FLE 0500 exam and we should eye-ball how many words we write. She also said that examiners never count the number of words for the summary and the word count is only for reference. Is that true? Because I see a lot of other teachers highlighting the fact that students shouldn’t write more than 120 words for the summary questions…what if I wrote like a 150 words or more but covered all the bullet points in the marking scheme?
Thanks!
Hi Hanah,
Thanks for asking.
Please kindly read below the comment from the English First Language (0500) examiner report.
“Candidates are reminded that for the selective summary, exceeding 120 words is likely to lead to a loss of concision and the introduction of excess, affecting both reading and writing performance.”
Therefore, we suggest you follow the guidelines to ‘write no more than 120 words’. Remember, you are being tested for accuracy, cohesion, and concision. Furthermore, the word limits will help you to plan your time in the examination and target the requirements of each question more effectively.
For more Summary writing tips, please read our post here: https://skolatis.com/how-to-write-a-summary/

1. Prepare ahead of time by working on sections of the content each day. Revise the subjects from the beginning. Highlight the important facts that you think could be on the test. Refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams here: https://skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/
2. Use the past exam papers as your revision. Please start with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format, and continue with the older ones dating back from 5 years.
3. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always make. Then, read and annotate your textbook to avoid making the same mistakes in your exam.

Hello!
I wanted to know how to distinguish between whether a question asks for a discursive writing or argumentative writing, with reference to Question 1, Paper 2, 0500.
Thank you.
Hi there!
The recommended structure for the response will be offered in the wording of the question.
For example, if the question requires you to give your opinion, you should commit yourself to a line of argument. On the other hand, if it asks you to provide a range of possible views, you should write in discursive and may or may not choose to say what you believe.
