Me and my brother were not good at English from the start. Luckily we got to know about Skolatis revision courses from one of our friends. My brother purchased the English course from his account and we gave our best to improve our English. The course was fantabulous. The videos explained the concepts so well that there was no doubt in us getting an A* in English in 9th Grade.

My daughter Nawal Amir completed her english revision course with igcse center. Words cannot define how comprehensive and supportive the whole course is. The administration and the teachers are prompt and methodical in guidance. Not only that being a parent one doesnโ€™t have to worry about how is the progress of their children as they go according to a timetable with test papers practice along with it. I
wish best of luck to igcse team and a great lot of thanks to Leana especially.

  1. Hi, I was wondering if could advise me on what to choose. I do not know which subjects to choose because there are many choices. My parents wants me to study Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I like history, art, geography, computer science and I will need to take Malay, Mandarin Chinese and English for language. My parents also wants me to take French, but I don’t understand a-lot to take it as foreign language, even when I studied for 3 years.I find subjects like enterprise, child develepoment and environment management interesting but not sure if my school provides such subject to study. Most importantly I failed in geography and math. My teacher says I have bad grades on the main 3 subjects. I really don’t know what to do and do not know which to choose….

      1. I think you should take the ones you love and you’re good at because at the end of the day you don’t want to blame your parents for not being employed or having a job you are not passionate about

    1. Hello Lucy,

      Thank you for writing in.

Have you thought what you like to specialise in college/university? This will help you decide the subjects you need to take. We always suggest candidates to check with the colleges/universities they have in mind and inquire about their subject entry requirements in accordance with the course they would like to study. In this way, they have 100% confirmation on the needed subjects.

If your school does not offer the subjects you wish to take, you may register as a private candidate. Register to your local British Council or to the nearest registered Cambridge school. You may try to search for any registered Cambridge schools who would accept private candidates here: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/i-want-to/find-a-cambridge-school/.

You may also want to join our A* subscription courses to help you get good grades and ace your exams. We are now offering A/A* guarantee to selected subjects. Follow through the course diligently for 5 months and you will build the confidence to score A* on your exams. Have a read at this page to learn how it works: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-revision-courses/

If you need further assistance, please let us know. Thank you.

  2. Hi, there are several subjects related to the same topic. For example, there are several English language syllabus options (e.g. 0500 BR, 0500 BX, 0990 BR, 0990 BX), & a plethora of English Language text books. Which books are relevant to which syllabus code?

For that matter, which syllabus option should I choose – what’s the difference between BR & BX, or 0500 & 0990…? Is there a certain way I should match syllabus subjects together?

    1. Hi Yves,

Both English – First Language (0500) and English – First Language (9-1) (0990) have similar syllabus. The only difference is the grading scale. English – First Language (0500) uses the A*-G grading scale while English – First Language (9-1) (0990) uses 9-1 grading scale.

A*โ€“G grade set is a well established, widely-used system that universities, parents and schools know and trust while the 9-1 grade set has been introduced by the UK government for GCSEs in state schools in England. Universities have made it very clear that they will treat students with 9โ€“1 grades and students with A*โ€“G grades equally.

On the other hand, the BR and BX are the syllabus option codes. The option code represents the different paper combination due to different administrative zones. Please kindly consult your school/exam centre for the correct option code when you make an entry.

For the suitable reference books, we suggest that you search on Amazon UK site.

If you need clarifications, do not hesitate to write to us again.

    1. Hi Peter,

These are all the available subjects under IGCSE programme.

If you wish to take Electrical Engineering for your further study, a good guideline is to take English, Maths, Additional Maths, Biology, Physics, Chemistry. But we do suggest that you should get the confirmation from the university on their entry requirement.

    1. Hello there,

These are all the available subjects under IGCSE. If you wish you to request for new subjects, please kindly contact CAIE directly. Thank you.

  3. I would like to know which edition of Patvar is prescribed in the curriculum for IGCSE Grade 9, for 2021-22

  4. Hi There, I am studying IGCSE as a private candidate and i am doing the following subjects
Mathematics,English First Language,Biology,Chemistry,Physics,Geography,History and Spanish Foreign Language.Am i eligible for the Cambridge ICE award?

    1. Hello Brian,

To be eligible for the ICE Award, you must register first for ICE Award during your exam registration.

Furthermore, upon checking the list of the subjects that you’ve taken, you did not fulfill the subject requirements. You were not able to take a subject that belongs to the Creative and Vocational Group.

There are five IGCSE curriculum areas: Group 1 โ€“ Languages ; Group 2 โ€“ Humanities; Group 3 โ€“ Sciences; Group 4 โ€“ Mathematics; Group 5 โ€“ Creative and Vocational. You must pass in at least seven Cambridge IGCSE subjects, including two from Group 1 and one from each of Groups 2 to 5. The seventh subject may be chosen from any of the syllabus groups.

Seriously, we are starting our exams on second May with math paper 22.
Please i need your help and thanks to all of you team.

    1. Hi Tigeris,

Highlight the important facts that you think could be on the test (you should refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/). You can then use the past exam papers as your revision. Start with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older ones date back from 5 to 10 years. Then, revise on the most common mistakes that you always seem to make. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
