Advance planning and a workable schedule for the duration of the course made the target achievable in a very comfortable manner.       Our advice is to practice lots of past exam papers. Practice gives you familiarity and speed.

  2. Hi,
    Looking through, Paper 2 (Extended), May/June 2021 (0580) Mark scheme.
    For (question 8) I obtained 13/24 as the answer which is correct, however, the mark scheme says I should perform the correct method to find the common denominator, I found 33/24 and 20/24, but why have they included an additional pair of fractions : 9/24 and 4/24?
    I just want to know, as my workings will determine the marks as well.

      The syllabus code of Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics is 0580. Please be careful with the subject code as you might be registered to Arabic – First Language, which has the syllabus code 0508.

      Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580) is available in both June and November exam series. You can decide when to sit for the exams if you are a private candidate. If you are a schooled candidate, please confirm with your school.

    Any advises on how should I excel in 0508 mathematics, I fairly know the topic questions in the syllabus, however, how should I gain confidence on implementing those topics to Paper 2 and 4?

    Also, I have approximately 4 months for my IGCSE exam, and I have been able to complete only half of the syllabus due to personal reasons, do you have any fast – track tips for me to finish the syllabus + practise past papers + revise for the exam?

      The key to getting good grades, especially for Mathematics, is to practice past exam papers.

      Aside from familiarising yourself with the kinds of questions you can expect on exams, doing past exam papers will help you learn how to manage your time wisely during exams.

      We suggest you minimise your reference checks when working on past exam papers. Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You can remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.

      Furthermore, during revision, you will see what areas you need to improve and what questions you have trouble dealing with. When you know this, you can find confidence in areas you are strong in and learn to work on areas you still need to improve.

      Thanks for writing to us!

      Here we have to understand the real life scenario of the situation given in the question. Before arriving at 2, we do not know how may times this will spin without stopping at number 2. So we can take the number of total times as “n”. We can take the probability of arriving at 2 as, 2/6 by looking at the spinner. The probability of the number not arriving at 2 is 4/6. Therefore we can write the equation as,

      (4/6)^(n-1) x (2/6) = 16/243. [Arriving at 2 in ‘n‘ th time – 2/6. (n-1) times is for the probability that does not arrive at 2.]

      When solved, n becomes equal to 5. Therefore the answer is 5.

(Drawing only two lines will be enough for a triangle) And then, draw the perpendicular bisector of each line. And finally you will get the Centre of rotation, where these bisectors meet each other. (the point of intersection)
