Have you ever felt that you have done all revision that you need for Design & Technology, but you still can’t get the questions right?

I would like to know some tips on doing paper 1 (Design) and paper 4 (systems and control). Have searched based on this but were in vain.

I feel prepared after revising the syllabus but when i start practicing past papers i just couldn’t get questions right.

1. Understand the objectives of the test for each paper

  • Each paper covers several topics or subjects. Discover what you’re tested on within each one.
  • Usually, students demonstrate their understanding of the topic and apply what they’ve learned to find solutions.

For example under paper 1:

For the topic of “Observe need/requirement,” students identify and describe needs and opportunities for design and technological improvement.

2. Get the right syllabus

Syllabus explains all the details of each topic and objectives that students must achieve under each topic.

Download the latest and the right syllabus for your examination year. You may use it as a reference.

3. Identify the questions

Make a habit to identify the question that you usually can’t get it right when you’re doing the past exam papers. Thereafter:

  • drill deeper on that specific topic.
  • observe how this kind of question being asked in the exam, and what are the objectives of the test.
  • you can always get some advice from your teacher at school (don’t be afraid to ask).

    My son did CBSE syllabus till 10th in India. 11th and 12th he selected IGCSE AS and A level.
    We are completely new to the syllabus.In his school no one selected Design and Technology. He is the only one to select Design and Technology and he is appearing has a Private candidate from Jain Heritage school. They asked us to check the syllabus in internet because they are also not aware of the syllabus. We saw the syllabus but unable to understand the syllabus for AS level. Please can you tell me the Syllabus for AS level.
    We could’t get Design and Technology book.We took Collins Design and Realization ,Is this the required book. In internet it is showing syllabus AS and A level syllabus.
    But what is Syllabus for AS—?
    and A –?
    Has we are new we are unable to seperate. Please help us.I’ll be waiting for your reply,
