Hi Igcse Center I wanted to know the important topics which are required in atp paper in subjects physics, chemistry and biology.
Hello,
Paper 6 or the Alternative to Practical paper is simply an alternative mode of assessment to Practical examination paper. It requires the same kind of practical work in preparation as the Practical Examination paper. The syllabus ( https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ) makes it clear, in the Aims, the Assessment Objectives and Practical Assessment sections, that the course should be thought practically and that candidates should have experience of doing (rather than merely seeing) experimental work. The Alternative to Practical paper assess the practical skills, including both data handling and familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.
You may download the past papers for reference: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/
Hello IGCSE team,
When will the Oct/Nov 2018 papers be uploaded?
thanks.
Hi Mohammed,
We do not have a fixed date to upload the papers. We upload the past exam papers as soon as we get ahold of them ? can be anytime after the results are released. You may need to check our website from time to time.
what should I study for biology exam (0610)
Hi Taha,
Start as early as possible. You can revise the subject from the beginning. Highlight the important facts that you think could be on the test (you should refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected during exams here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/). You can then use the past exam papers (https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/) as your revision. Start with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older ones date back from 5 to 10 years. Then, revise on the most common mistakes that you always seem to make. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
Lastly, DO NOT wait until the very last minute to do your revision.
Hi there IGCSE Centre. May you please provide me some tips on how to study for business studies paper 2 and physics multiple choice paper 2 for October/November. Thank you
Hi Sams,
Here are some few tips for Business Studies (0450):
Demonstrate the application of knowledge and concepts using the given scenario. This doesn?t mean simply referencing the business name. Analyse the issues faced and make suitable recommendations as to what this particular business should do. Always use the information provided in the case study or question stem as a guide in considering what to write.
On the other hand for Physics (0625),
– Work through the paper with care. Do not miss out a question for any reason ? you may then start placing your answers in the wrong places.
– Do not attempt to look for any pattern, or any lack of pattern in the answers. In other words, do not worry about how many questions have been answered A, B, C or D and do not worry about the distribution of As, Bs, Cs and Ds.
Dear IGCSE Team,
Can you let me know when will the Hindi papers for may/june 2018 be uploaded. Please look into it. Your papers are the only I’ve improved in this subject
Regards,
Sai Ganesh
Hi Sai,
Hindi as a Second Language 0549 is only available in the November and March series. As such, there are no May-June paper for this subject. Please download the syllabus for your reference: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/
Hi,
I’m a student who is doing my exams next year, and I was wondering if a bad grade will ‘ruin’ your overall image.
In my case, I’ve been doing reasonably in all my chosen subjects except language.
If I get a E or so for that subject, does it make my overall report worth less (assuming the rest are A* – B)?
Without the language I still have 8 other subjects.
Hi Joseph,
If this subject is not one of the required subjects in the university entry requirement, it won?t affect your application. If it is, then it would affect your application. It is best to check the entry requirements with the university you wish to apply to.
We suggest that you prepare for your exams as early as possible. You can revise the subjects from the beginning. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
hello igcse centre, i had my economics paper 2 structured question yesterday and im so stressed , i was not able to finish in time and i feel so down and depressed because i worked so hard, how do i overcome this so that i can prepare for my other papers
Hello,
At this point of time, you shouldn?t rush to practice lots of past exam papers. This would stress you out. Just take all your previous practices, and go through all the common mistakes that you normally make. Go through them with a calm mind, and not beat yourself up for the mistakes that you had done. Take deep breath.
hi guys, just wanted to ask how can I get good marks in physics and economics??
Hello Ukasha,
Here are some tips for Physics:
– The questions usually include stimulus materials that contains all the relevant information. The information can be given in different ways: a diagram, a graph or a table. Study the materials thoroughly as it often provide clues and answers to the question.
– When answering calculation, always show the working of your answer. Learn a set method for solving a calculation and use that method. Write out all the working for your calculation as it can gain marks for the method even if there?s a mistake with the final answer.
– Remember to write the correct symbols and units. Familiarise with the following multipliers: M mega, k kilo, c centi, m milli as these may be included in many calculations. Make sure to show the units in the calculation. If the units are not given on the answer line, then always write them after the numerical answer.
On the other hand for Economics, we suggest that you develop data handling techniques. Familiarize yourself with the variety of forms in which economic data can be presented. Learn to interpret statistical tables, understand trends and relationship, and illustrate diagram, and analyze graphs.
Furthemore, always use the extract provided. Do not rely mainly on your general knowledge and understanding to answer some of these questions. While correct information may have been provided, it will not score any marks because the assessment objective is to make use of relevant information from the extract.
Lastly, practice, practice and practice. Answering past papers help and you can learn from the mark scheme. Download the past papers here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/
