I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Hi igcse
I was asking if percentage uniform marks are available or do they post them online
Hello Devis,
The percentage is shown on your Statements of Results. Percentage uniform mark (PUM) corresponds to the grades available (A*, A, B, C etc.) and gives students additional information about their performance. It shows your percentile, not the total mark achieved for the syllabus. It is a point on a common scale for all syllabuses to show whether the candidate’s performance is close to the top, middle or bottom of the grade.
Hello igcse centre
I’m having dreams of failing my igcse math I’m very scared to get f and I f a pass for as or
Hello Jan,
First of all relax and take some deep breaths. Meditate, practice yoga, exercise, listen to music, play video games or do whatever that makes you feel calm. Believe in yourself and your abilities. Realise your own expectations, what would you be happy with. Do something you enjoy and be productive. Lastly, don’t miss out on happy moments with worry about your results.
Hi,
I have two questions in english(0500):
1)In paper 2 when writing descriptive writing is it ok to narrate the story but describe as well.
2)Do you have any nice tips for writing a narrative?
Your help would be really appreciated.
Hello Bob,
Even narrative needs description. You need to help your reader imagine characters and places by adding significant details to bring them alive.
Here are some narrative composition tips:
– Decide on a tense and then stick to it; do not jump between present and past. The normal narrative tense is past and those who try to write in the present usually forget to do so after a while, so it is safer to start off in the past.
– Know what your last sentence is going to be before you write your first. A narrative has to build up to a climax and lead towards a conclusion which is planned before it starts or it will end lamely or incomprehensibly, or the pace will be too slow or too fast.
– Don’t try to do too much; you can’t cover many events and many years in one short composition. Select key moments and skip over the rest, changing the pace according to the intensity of the moment.
– If you do use dialogue, find synonyms for ‘he said/she said’
– Use plenty of interesting details to engage your reader and make them want to read on.
– End your narrative deliberately. Stories need a conclusion, where things are either resolved or purposely left unresolved as a cliff-hanger (though on the whole readers prefer to know how a story ended). You must not give the impression that you just stopped writing because you ran out of time, ink or ideas.

Hi,
I was wondering if the system is still down or is there something wrong with my phone as it’s written in note section that past papers are updated to march 2019.
I know you don’t have an exact date but if possible approximately when will you be back.
You helped me greatly last session and i am very grateful for your help.
Thanks for advance
Hi Sama,
Thank you for your kind words. We are still working on with our library of resources and we do update our library constantly and continuously. Please subscribe to our newsletter for the announcement.
Hi. The main page says updated to March 2019 examinations. Does that mean your website is functioning? Even if it doesn’t, it still has a huge place in my heart as it helped me for so long.
Hello Dhruv,
Thank you for appreciating our efforts. Our website continues to function and we are still providing tips to help candidates excel in their exams.
Please subscribe to our newsletter for the announcement.
Hi may I ask if u forgot to shade the Candidate number in the MCQ answer sheet is it okay even though the numbers are already printed? I only signed my paper i didnt shade it because the teacher didnt instruct us to do so
Hello Sabrina,
They may be able to trace you with your printed name and candidate number. There’ll be just a minor issue because MCQ papers are scanned and checked by the computers.
If you would like to clear this issue, we suggest you to talk to your school as we do not know how was the printing like, and thus can’t provide any further suggestion.
Hi there,
I need some tips on how to score good marks in math, please.
Hello Riya,
With Maths, you’ll need a lot of practice.
1. Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ).
2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers. Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
Tips:
Minimize your reference checks. Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.
Show your working. You may get some credit even if your answer is wrong. Writing down your working can also help you to spot errors you have made.
You might be interested with our exam model answers. Model Answers are sample A* answers for past exam papers. You would see what kind of answers you need to write in order to score A*. Model Answers consist of step-by-step workings which you can’t find in mark scheme. For more information, kindly read this page: https://www.skolatis.com/igcse-exam-resources/
If your workings for math are done in pencil, would it affect marks?
Hi there,
If you believe that you wrote it clearly using pencil, it would be marked accordingly.
