I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

Dear IGCSE team,
For the IGCSE and O Level syllabuses in Business Studies, Economics, Literature (New) and EVM are there any differences?
Thanks and regards.
Hello Dhruv,
Kindly download the syllabus here and do the comparison:
IGCSE: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/
O-level: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-o-level-subjects-syllabuses/
IGCSE and O-level are of equivalent qualification. IGCSE set internationally recognised standards while O-level were developed to meet specific local needs. Furthermore, IGCSE uses a variety of assessment techniques to test oral and practical skills, initiative and problem-solving and application of skills, knowledge and understanding. A coursework option is available in many syllabuses, allowing schools an element of personal choice and giving teachers the chance to share in the process of assessment. On the other hand, O-level offers fewer coursework options than IGCSE. The focus of O-level languages is on writing and reading skills and there are more restricted practical test options in O-level sciences.
Hi,
I was looking through the grade boundaries and found that is was written components. Please could you tell me what components mean and how grade boundaries work?
Thanks
Hello Bob,
Kindly read this article to guide you in the marking and grading process: https://www.skolatis.com/guide-to-the-marking-and-grading-process-of-exam-papers/
There is a compulsory combination of papers needed for each subject and each paper makes up your component grade. Furthermore, each component has its weighting factor. Weighting factor is the value assigned by CIE to indicate the importance of each component. You may download the weighting factors here: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/206341-syllabus-component-weighting-factors.pdf
Lastly, grade boundaries or most often called as grade threshold is the minimum number of marks that a candidate needs to obtain a particular grade in a paper or in a subject. These thresholds are decided after each examination has been taken and marked. The aim in each year (or examination series) is to set each threshold in just the right place to ensure that it is no more difficult and no less difficult to obtain that grade than it was in the previous year.
Thanks
You’re welcome, Bob.
what are the grades for me to get to get a full or half scholarship
Hi there,
For scholarship, please write to the respective universities. Each university has different requirements.
Hello, am doing my IGCSE’s next year May-June. Am planning on studying abroad, what other certificates do i need other than my IGCSE Certificate? Do i have to do A-Levels or Ib?
Hi Abdelraheem,
Usually, the normal procedure is after completing IGCSE, you need to complete A-Levels or equivalent qualification to apply for university.
However, there are some universities which accept students with excellent IGCSE results. Some universities offer foundation programs which do not require A level. However, it’s best to check the entry requirements either from the university’s website or contact the university directly.
You maybe interested with our A* online revision courses. These had helped numerous students to score A* The revision course provides video tutorial, revision timetable, downloadable exam-style practices, common mistakes candidates make during the exams, and also examiners’ advice. Every year we have two revision sessions. The first session will be February-April and the second one will be July-September. Please kindly find out the details here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-revision-courses/.

Hi, I’m doing my IGCSEs next month :O
Really sad about what happened to this website! It was the best, but I did find papers from an alternate..
What are tips u can give me for Physics?
Hello Hailey,
Here are some tips for you:
– The number of marks is a guide to how long to spend on each question or parts of a question.
– If a part of a question is worth three marks you should make at least three separate points. Be careful to not make the same point three times.
– When reading the question, decide which area of physics is being asked. Do not just look at a few words as it may lead to misunderstanding the question.
– The questions usually include stimulus materials that contains all the relevant information. The information can be given in different ways: a diagram, a graph or a table. Study the materials thoroughly as it often provide clues and answers to the question.
– Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ )
– Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.
We wish you well with your exams.
Thank you very much!
And I see the papers are back, that is a great thing!
Hi IGCSE team,

Hello IGCSE Centre,
I would like to offer software engineering in college and i am not sure on the subjects I need to write for it, please can you help me with the subjects I need to write on order to offer software engineering
Hi Philippa,
A good guideline is Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, ICT, Additional Maths, Maths, and of course English. But we do suggest that you check with the university directly as each university has their own set of entry requirements.
Hi igcse team,
I am writing my IGCSE (ESL/MATHEMATICS/BUSINESS STUDIES/TRAVEL AND TOURSIM/ICT) for the second time on OCT/NOV 2019,because i didnt score well on MAY/JUNE 2019.
My marks were so bad!!!
Please help me with some tips and tell me what should I do. I wanna score good marks on OCT/NOV 2019.
Thank you!
Hello Salman,
You should start doing your revision based on the latest syllabus: (https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-o-level-subjects-syllabuses/) and practice with the latest papers as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older ones date back from 5 to 10 years. Then, revise on the most common mistakes that you always seem to make.
