I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

hello i have a question
when it comes to grading the syllabus total is 200 whilst the all the question papers add up to 160.Does that mean they add 40 marks to your total grade ?
thank you
Hello there,
CAIE assigns weighting factor to to indicate the importance of each component. To learn more about this, we suggest that you read CAIE’s marking and grading process here: https://www.skolatis.com/guide-to-the-marking-and-grading-process-of-exam-papers/
I am a bit confused about the grading thresholds. I my mark from my 2019 IGCSE English M/J certificate was 81% (A), but when I compared it to the grading threshold for that series, it showed that anything above a 73/100 was an A*. Why do my grades not match the grading thresholds? This occurred with all of my subject marks, not just with English.
Hello John,
The percentage shown in your statement of result is your Percentage Uniform Mark. It shows your percentile, not the total mark achieved for the syllabus. It is a point on a common scale for all syllabuses to show whether the candidate’s performance is close to the top, middle or bottom of the grade.
If you have further questions, feel free to write to us again. Thank you.
Thank you. I understand this much better now. When marking past papers, could I then use the grading thresholds for each exam session to determine what grade (A-G) I get for each paper?
Hello John,
Yes, you can do that. You may also be interested in our Mark You Paper service. You can send in your past paper and an examiner will mark it along with feedback on: your mistakes, suggestions to improve, the marks awarded for each question. Please check out the details here: https://www.skolatis.com/mark-your-papers/
If you have further questions, feel free to write to us. Thank you.
I want IGCSE Chemistry 0620 2020 may june grade threshold. It is not available on the website can you please provide it to me?
Hello ARC,
Grade thresholds are not provided because the June 2020 exams did not take place. CAIE used assessed grade methodology to award grades.
Thank you.
Hi, Will, there be any changes to IGCSE 2021 syllabus? Are there any new updates and for which subjects?
Hello Yusra,
CAIE has considered the adjustments they can make to the syllabuses to make it easier for teachers and students to meet the syllabus requirements. They aim to balance the circumstances with the need to maintain the standard of the qualification. This is so that valid comparisons between performance in this series and previous and future series can be made. This means that the adjustments cannot compromise the knowledge, skills and competencies that are being assessed in the syllabus.
Please also be guided that if adjustments are available, you need to apply for permission to use them before the exam or before submitting work.
For the complete list of the relevant syllabus and component, please kindly read CAIE’s full announcement here: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/covid/june-2021-exam-series/
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you so much!
I also have a followup question, I have my IGCSE exams in 2021( May June series) since when should I begin practicing past papers? Also, what is the most efficient way to revise? I face difficulties in remembering concepts, especially in science.
Hello Yusra,
We suggest that you start your exam preparations as early as possible. Here are some tips for you:
1. Download the latest syllabus (https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/). Go through the syllabus and learn what is expected of you and list down things you are confident and not so sure about.
2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers (https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/). Start with the latest paper as they have the newest syllabus format and continue with the older one date back from 5 to 10 years.
3. Make notes on the common mistakes you always seem to make. Read and annotate your textbook for the questions you got wrong.
You can also check out our A* subscription course. It is a 5 month programme where you will have access to various study materials and exam preparation tools. Hey IGCSE Centre,
I have had very rough time finding solutions for some of the past papers on the internet. I would want you to suggest some websites / YT channels which follow igcse curriculum and give solutions for tougher questions. Especially for Mathematics.
Hello Vinod,
You might be interested in our Exam Model Answers. It consists of step-by-step workings which you can’t find in mark scheme. You may purchase them here: https://www.skolatis.com/igcse-exam-resources/
hi I am due to writing my exams in the next 30 days and due to the pandemic i have been doing online lessons but I was not happy with my online mock exams so what can l do to feel preapared in this last month
Hello Chiyevo,
At this point of time, you shouldn’t rush to practice lots of past exam papers. This would stress you out. Just take all your previous practices, and go through all the common mistakes that you normally make. Go through them with a calm mind, and not beat yourself up for the mistakes that you have made. Lastly, take a deep breath.
We hope this helps.
