Who here has done chemistry paper 11 and 31? Am i the only one who thought that CIE made a typo in the mcq (p11) question about metals W X Y Z? Because it didn’t make sense to me how Z was a native metal but could also be extracted with carbon…o.O? It really confused me but the answer i chose was the order XYWZ, since Z was native and both Z and W were extracted by carbon, i figured that would be it..maybe cie just wanted some common sense. What did everyone else choose for that one??
Same order as you. Y was not mentioned and it was placed between X and W. Z occured native so it must have been last 🙂
same!!! I was sooo confused esp since they didn’t even mention Y , just Z twice. But my answer was XYWZ

Same answer was B, question said that only X reacts with cold water so obviously it’s the most reactive, then they said Z and W only can be extracted by carbon, so Y can’t be extracted by carbon so it’s more reactive than carbon so I Chose answer B which was XYWZ
no it was not a typo but our ans is correct.
is a native metal so it is unreactive, like copper. so at the bottom of the reactivity series.
w is extracted by reduction of carbon so below C in reactivity series.
thyen they said X reacts with cold water- so like magnesium, above carbon.
they didnt say anything about Y but logically u dont see any of the answers starting with it, so yeah it is X Y W Z.
Yessss, honestly I thought it was an error and realized that the chances of them making a mistake are slim to none. I just assumed Y was more reactive than W and X
i choose XYWZ cuz u see gold can be extracted IF ever combined by copper but its USUALLY found native

How was chemistry 31 guys? Personally I thought it was quite difficult…and did anyone notice the mistake in paper 11 question 26? The question was impossible to do, what will happen? will they just mark it out of 39 instead of 40 or what?
Yes 31 was very hard. I dunno about question 26 but don’t worry about it now 😉

It was about 4 metals W, X, Y and Z and how reactive they were… they had two different facts about Z and nothing about Y, so the question actually had 2 possible answers A) and B) so I just went for A. But I think they will remove the question and just mark out of 39 instead of 40! I hope! 🙂

paper 11 was pretty easy and paper 31 was okay i guess.. not quite sure about that question with the impurities..

One of the easiest chem questions got me wounded, what were your answers for a reversible reaction? Do you think they’ll except water changing to ice and vice versa as a reversible reaction??
I wrote that too, It has to be correct..
I wrote N2 + 3H2 (reversible sign) 2NH3 as for the Haber process. I really don’t know whether they would accept the change of ice to water maybe but who knows.

i put anhydrous cobalt chloride and hydrated cobalt chloride
I wrote production of ammonia and the formula –
N2 + 3H2 = (backward or forward symbol) 2NH3
dehydration of CuSO4.5H2O OR hydration of anhydrous copper sulphate
