I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

so guys…
any tips for chemistry… I’m TOTALLY lost!!!!!!!! got no idea what to do….!!!!!!!!!! please be awesome and help me!!!!!!!!!
keep doing past papers, it honestly helps! learn the metal extraction of iron and aluminum. the basic oxygen tank. reactions in organic chem (alkane + chlorine, cracking conditions, alkene and steam/water, etc.) and structural formulas (isomers), rate of reaction, habers and contact process, acids and bases (rxns), enthalpy change and ESPECIALLY redox! If you want, brush through your electrolysis, atoms and metal reactivity). If you guys have any tips for physics P3 plz share 🙂
ummm… sorrry but what is enthalpy change…??
thanks tho… 🙂
Its just that exothermic and endothermic chapter 🙂 and thanks for the physics thing btw!! Good luck! if you have eng lit on Monday, gd luck fr that too :(p
thanks and no i dont take literature and no prob for phy 🙂 good luck if YOU have lit on Monday ;P
focus on the hooke’s law
energy and stuff
pressure(liquid and solids)
the gas laws( presure law–P/T=constant….boyl’s law–PT=constant…charles’ law–V/T=constant…Gas law–PV/T=constant… where V=volume, P=pressure and T=temperature)
moments(and uses)
transferof kinetic to potential energy
Brownian motion
bi-metallic strips
adv and disadv of alcohol and mercury thermometer
thermocouple
thermal capacity (specific and non-specific)
properties of waves
elctromagnetic spectrum
critical angle
ray diagram (if sm1 generous could help me at this)
uses of radioactive elemants
Half-life of radioactive elements
centre of mass
dispersion of light
deflection of alpha gamma and beta in magnetic field and current
penetration caused by the alpha gamma and beta radiation
the whole of elctricity and magnetism but focus more on ac and dc generator/motor
latent heat (specific or non-specific)
Hope this helps… 🙂
this was phy p1 and 3
I believe that one of the most important topics is organic chemistry so make sure you focus on that! Do pastpapers as well and read the mark scheme after completing it, you can learn stuff from the markscheme! I also think that it’s more important to focus on the last chapters including contact process and haber process extraction of metals reversible reactions rates of reaction and electricity but if you have time you should surely revise the first chapters! Chemistry is really easy so don’t worry and goodluck
make sure u go through the syllabus and revise the whole course thoroughly cuz that works for me !! 🙂 and if u get time solve some papers
thanks.. 🙂
thanks
🙂
SAME HERE
I was wondering if it is required that you obtain an A in each component (paper) of a subject in order to get an A* as your final grade? Or can you get an A* without getting an A in some of the components?
This question is for the IGCSE Team
Thanks
An (A) in all components may not even get you the( A) since it is usually low like in biology ( paper 3) for example , however you can calculate it by adding up your mark on each component and making it out of the syllabus mark which is for example in biology 200 , so if you do not get in an( A) in any component it will be really hard to get an (A) for the final grade
For biology paper 12, was the first answer nutrition or respiration? The one with the chicken
nutrition 🙂
It was nutrition
Yes nutrition, what about which is not an organ is it blood or tooth ?
it was tooth
no it was blood. blood is a tissue while teeth are organs
It was blood
Blood; it’s a tissue. A tooth is an organ.
was that in paper 12?? i don’t remember that coming up
i mean paper 11
Dont worry it is in 12
And okay thanks but i thought that tooth is a bone which has no tissues
and blood is many different cells functioning to make blood but i guess blood is right
majorty chose blood
nutrition it is
because the animal eats the plant
Hi guys,
Any tips and notes fot chemiatry paper.
It would be helpful.
For me there are three days gap for the preparation of chemistry so I am just going to perfect my concepts and refer my school notes. If I get time or I get tired of doing portion, I will practice some past papers. My friends told me that two questions came from older previous years for chemistry paper 6 so after revising the portion once just practice some older past papers. Hope this helped.
Dear igcse,
I am really stressed out about my Hindi paper which I just appeared for on 12th May…Actually I have written more than 100 words in the summary! 🙁 My friends told me that I will directly be marked zero. I am really scared and because of this stress I wont be able to give the listening paper. Please help Me.
Hi Tanushka,
No, it won’t be zero. It will be marked until the 100th word, then the rest will be crossed out. If you have given enough content points within the 100 words, you will still gain the content marks.
Thank you so much!! It was a relief!
Just revise the portion and perfect your concepts. Make sure you are thorough with organic chemistry, polymers, electrolysis, ionic and covalent bonding, rate of reaction and it’s factors, factors that affect equilibrium, acids and bases reactions, extraction of aluminium. And remember just before you hand in the exam to the invigilator, check whether you wrote all the units because even if your answers are correct you’ll lose marks for not writing the correct unit. So yeah. I hope this helped you.
Dear IGCSE Centre,
where are the specimen papers for chemistry 2015
there isn’t any
Hi,
There is no specimen for Chemistry since the syllabus did not majorly change like other subjects such as math
thanks
There are no specimen papers 2015, you could try solving 2016 but I wouldn’t recommend it if you are appearing for 2015 May/June examinations 😀
thanks
there are only 2016 sp no 15 🙁
