How was Chemistry 31 guys? I see 32 was easy but I found variant 1 extremely hard.. 🙁 Anyone else who has done it?
was the alcohol one C10H21OH
was ur maximum mass 7.2 g??
nooooo!! 7.2g was the actual mass!! you had to find the theoretical mass using the mole ratio
3.25g for me
its 3.25 g
Yes
Yes it was 🙂 C10H21OH
Yes
P 31 was so hard … what was a fair test between the 2 different alkali?
Yeah it is important for you to carry the statement of entry, although the examiners don’t even bother checking! The statement of entry is like a pass with which you can enter the examination hall.
Sorry wrong sent Lucas and oh btw I did variant 1 and it was hard! Let’s just hope the threshold is low for 11 and 31 chem
For mcq about the question with the steel, calcium oxide, oxygen and heat was it A or B?
31 was really hard 🙁
eassssssy
yes.. it was quite good
31 was intense especially the 1st 3 questions , but everything went well . Expecting an A
I did 32 today and it was hard as well 🙁
Yeah, i did it today. I wouldn’t say it was easy but it was challenging to an extent, but still alright though. what questions did you have problems with?
31 chem was bad no electrolysis like what the hell
and no polymers but like some random question about interhalogens what the hell is that even …. hopefully grade boundaries drop
31 wasn’t that good
Very difficult! 🙁
yup vareint 1 was ok… like i felt that i did good but u know the inner satisfaction WHILE doing the exam wasn’t exactly there :\
Paper 31 was hard especially organic chem
i did 31 and i found it hard too!
i dont even remember what my variant was!
but paper 3 for me started off the fossil fuels thingys and the coal elements.
paper 1 started with the question about the changes of states. ( W X Y Z question)
so do u know which variant was that?
it was okay ! 🙂 Just messed up abit in the mcq……. Imagine! I thought Carboxylic acids don’t have an OH group!!!
LOL
Mine went really good, alhamdulilah. 😀
People found it tricky but well it wasn’t really.. :\
Paper 11 was easy. Might even get 100% in paper 1. But paper 31 was normal. It wasn’t that hard, nor that easy. What did u guys write for the question on equilibrium which said Cl2 is removed from the container, state why does the colour become yellow(or dark brown, i don’t remember). I wrote because concentration of chlorine decreases so equilibrium shifts to left etc…..
Sooooooooo easy!!! 🙂
I honestly regret studying this much for chem!! especially organic chemistry oh my god..
Hahahahahaha … Al Hamdullilah it was really good !!!
Can you please tell me what wad the order of method in your answer in salt preparation ?
A
C
B
Hi how haw chem
Hi was was chem
Was the first one in chem mcq dissolve and then diffuse?
Yeah, I think its right.
yeah
Yes it was. 100% sure
yeah, option B 🙂
YES
Yup 🙂
yes but i put it as diffuse then dissolve ….such a stupid mistake !
???
what vareint is that
12
Yes
what variant?
12
Yes
There you go! yes it was 🙂 watd you write for the mcq statement which is not correct? the answer is :mild steel is used for car bodies because of its low density. 🙁
thought it was aluminum is used to make airplane cuz it has low density but that statement it right urgh! I frgt Al has low density -.-“
no it was that stainless steel is used in chemical factories for its durability of something (its actually bc its resistant to corrosion)
actually the statement was that stainless steel is used because of its durability AND resistance to corrosion, so the mild steel statement is wrong
yes
its so unfair that many students in my class are cheating for these boards… 🙁 our examiners are so lost and are so careless that anyone can cheat. people literally discussed all the answers for mcq today – shameless right? and I don’t even wanna be that person who tells on them but I just hate how I have to work so hard to earn my marks while these students just cheat with ease and get higher than me because of it. does anyone know what exactly happens if they are caught cheating? I want to imagine them getting caught and my imaginations must be realistic haha
they’ll get a zero in this subject and i guess they will be banned 5 years from doing their igcse !!!…i guess!
All marks cancelled,
Disappointed parents,
Humiliation!
Word up.
Cheating?! that’s a bid deal, obviously you’ll get a U!
no Z
The school will get in trouble, maybe even get the program taken away from the school!
nope its not the school to be blamed only the students get disquallified and banned from any CIEs for 5 years
You should report it man. it’s unfair for everyone around the globe
Sorry man
really? can you report them anonymously?
this must be reported. if they’re caught, their papers may be cancelled.
thats extremely unfair how can i compete with students from your school and in mine, i cant even move my lips, otherwise my exam will be cancelled … NOT FAIR 🙁
Their papers get disqualified, I agree with you, it’s unfair. I have experienced this during bio paper6 but I stayed silent
Whyyyy? Dont the invigilators catch them or something? Thats mean of them 🙁
Your paper gets cancelled- that’s what our exam officer says :/ . Ur not the only one though, during the math exam a teacher was helping some students. when i found out i was like :0. And the invigilators don’t even check us properly before we enter the hall. someone sneaked a cheat sheet and hid it in the bathroom(though it was found).
this is sooo unfair ,,, here no one is allowed to cheat and knowing that people don’t study and gt higher than u is terrible it is unfair to us too….
they get disqualified AND I agree its unfair even i’ve spotted ppl cheating but my invigilators dont seem to notice or perhaps they dont care
Dear IGCSE Team….
what shall we do??
Hello peeps,
You could inform the school’s headmaster/headmistress if you want to. They have to take measurable actions for such incident.
Just a word for you guys, cheating doesn’t mean they will get high marks 🙂 . Why? Because people that cheat usually do not know the right answers. So the same group of people that do not know the answers will copy each other for the Wrong Answers 😉 … Further more, they will run out of time because they waste time in looking around, and usually they can’t complete the paper – properly. 🙂
Even if they did score high grades by cheating, but they know nothing inside them. If they continue to further study, they will face a lot of problems because their foundation is not strong. Either they have to continue to cheat, or they will drop out. So what will happen if they continue to cheat? That’s right, they will grow into a “Cheating person” or a “Cheater”. And this kind of people will not success in their life. They will spend their whole life running around try to find ways to cheat others in order to earn a living, and they will never have a good life.
We see this good example everyday in our lives. Do you think it’s worth it to cheat then? Think for long run 🙂
thanks for that ossss-sum speech Team!! Love u but I just like to call on people so I guess I’ll stay shut.. 😐
just DON’T** like
thats chamfull for CIE and IGCSE as an international program. they can handle even such things.
i know 🙁
If they get caught, they are sacrificed for the glory of satan.
LOL
omg! i know its so awful to be a tattle tale cause everyone will be mad … but these are board exams and u have to tell … cause they are making it unfair for everyone ! tell someone who u think will take some action .. and if ur scared tell them not to tell that u were the one that told
Thank god our school’s examiners are strict and they are doing everything they can to prevent cheeting or any other thing like that so i guess we are lucky to have a school like ours 🙂
Guys for chem 32, what was the reason for why potassium nitrate fertilizer is better favored than sodium salt fertilizer? And for uses of ethanol can I say: solvent for chromatography and to make esters? Also, x=3? and why sodium nitrate fertilizer is found isn’t found in tropical regions ( I said cuz it reacts with water)… and for 12, there was this question; it was like thermal decomposition and neutralization or thermal decomposition and oxidation? and another mcq was that manufacturing of iron requires all three – CaO, heat and oxygen (A) – right?
I think the second fertiliser is favoured to the first one as it contains both potassium and nitrogen ions whereas the first ones only contain nitrogen ions. 🙂
Not sure though.
😉
potassium nitrate is a better fertiliser because it contains two components of NPK fertilisers while sodium nitrate contains only one. Ethanol is a solvent for chromatography and yes it is used to make esters. Yup x=3 🙂 . The next one is right too. I wrote thermal decomposition and oxidation. It was manufacture of steel from iron, not manufacture of iron. but yes it requires all three.
btw where are you from?
potassium in needed for soils, sodium isn’t. i got that wrong tho :(((
1- potassium nitrate contains both fertiliser (nitrogen and potassium )
2-I wrote it is used as a solvent and fuel ,though making esters might be correct
3-I wrote it will with water too ! Not sure
4-I was confused at that too , I don’t think it’s decomposition
5-heat isn’t needed ( oxygen and CaO ) only
It was a better fertiliser as it contained two of the three main ingredients (N,P,K) while sodium nitrate only contained N. I am not sure about esters as a use for ethanol. You are correct as sodium nitrate would dissolve in water a wash away. It was thermal decomposition and then oxidation and the last one is correct
It has more nutrients required for plants, and yes can be used as a solvent, x does equal to 3 , it dissolves in water, the rest where correct
dude, i did variant 2 and i dont remember a question being about fertilizers and “x=3”
whether u got the wrong variant or i did a different one.
the moles question, the last part’s answer was x=3
All of it is correct and potassium is betterer as it is needed for the growth of plants
Not sure about esters you could have written as a fuel
Do you know what was the answer to the incorrect use of aluminium or steel?
its use in chemical plants (stainless steel is used there bc its resistant to corrosion, not bc its strong)
onoko you’re wrong, it did say that stainless steel is corrosion resistant
yes it was mild steel, cuz mild steel has high density but question stated it has low density so it was the wrong option (c)! and thanks guys! I feel a lot more confident now 🙂
