What did you guys get for the permutation and combination questions for addmath paper 12 today?
there were like 4 questions concerning perms and combs, which one u talking about
i found it hard as well
3600 for the third part
I got 14C8 = 3003. But others say that it was 14C8 x 8C4 = 210210?
I think we are not supposed to discuss papers for a day or something.
my answers were wrong 🙁 what was your alnb? my a= 1/2 and b=1/11
That’s right I think. I wrote a= -1/2 and b=11, since ln(1/11) is the same as -ln(11). Hope that’s okay..
I wrote a= 1/2 and b= 1/11
I think both are correct.
The one where it asked for the two symbols to be together is 3600 definitely.
According to a few good students the answers were:-
a1) 8P6=20160
a2) 3 x 2 x 6P4=2160
a3) 6p4 x 5p1 x 2!= 3600
b1) 14C4 x 10C4= 210210
b2) 8c4 x 6c4 = 1050

Not sure if the 2 team thing (part i) was 210210 or 105105. I wrote the latter because I think the team you are in does not matter.
Nope. It’s definitely 210,210. The team you are in does matter, think about it logically.
ABCD in team 1 and EFGH in team 2 is the same as EFGH in team 1 and ABCD in team 2 right. There is no difference between the teams themselves. Right?

Area for the triangle was 5.(something)
P and C was easy

aiii) 5 x 2 x 6P4 = 3600
bi) 14C4 x 10C4 = 210210
the other parts to that question were easy
That was the hardest question in the paper. Hopefully the grade thresholds are low.

(iii)I am not sure about it… I got 360*2
I got 3600 for aiii) also. I thought the combination sum was quite tough… I did 14C8 for part i) I assumed that if you were part of 1 team you couldn’t be part of the other.. Guessing that’s wrong tho

ai) was 1 mark, aii) was 2 marks and aiii) was 3 marks
All is right except (iii), where it’s 6P4*2P2*5=3600
