I’ve learned advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me!
“I am really enjoying Skolatis! It is very helpful. I feel that the way you teach the subjects are very helpful and aid in helping people learn more complicated things. For example I’m a lot ahead in chemistry and biology. I’ve learned many more advanced things much faster than a teacher could have taught me it. Skolatis has really helped me improve in chemistry and biology!”

Hi IGCSE Center, I would like to know everything on how to write an interview (0500 first language English).
thank you.
Hi Evan,
Remember that in this question your reading and writing skills are being tested so you need to be using both ? picking out ideas from the passage and reworking them to write a convincing response. You will need to use and develop the ideas contained in the passage, and add original details of your own. Don?t forget that your ideas should remain based on the passage and not stray too far from it. Stick to those questions only and develop the responses to them. It can make your answers too fragmented or less focused if you add more. Do not copy big chunks of text as that is not going to be showing your understanding, try to use your own words as far as possible. Aim to avoid using the same word too often and try to choose more precise vocabulary rather than always the first word you think of. Lastly, try if you can to ?hear? your answer read out in your head ? this will help you to check that you are using an appropriate register (that it sounds right).
Hii, it would be great if you could share some tips on writing the economics exam 🙂
Hi S,
We suggest that you develop data handling techniques. Familiarise yourself with the variety of forms in which economic data can be presented. Learn to interpret statistical tables, understand trends and relationship, and illustrate diagram, and analyse graphs.
Furthemore, always use the extract provided. Do not rely mainly on your general knowledge and understanding to answer some of these questions. While correct information may have been provided, it will not score any marks because the assessment objective is to make use of relevant information from the extract.
Lastly, practice, practice and practice. Answering past papers help and you can learn from the mark scheme. Download the past papers here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/
Hi Evan,
Writing an interview will not be easy. You will need to include sufficient information on your interview. Remember you need to write:
– Why you are for the interview
– Benefits of hiring you
– How you wish to contribute
– Who you are contributing to
– Other details
Wish you good luck
if i exceed the line in some questions in the exam paper will i be penalised
and if the question asks for two reasons
and i give 3 reasons but 1 of them is wrong will a mark be deducted
pls answer
and btw
your site is the best
it has helped me a lot
thank you
Hi Bob,
Thank you for your kind words.
Most of the exam scripts are scanned and marked by the examiners in their computer. There is no penalty for going beyond the lines, however, you are risking your answers not fitting into the scanned screen. If this happens, you will lose marks as the examiners won?t be able to see your full answers.
Alternatively, you may write on the blank pages provided within the answer sheet. Any blank pages that are used by a candidate in the examinations are scanned and marked as long as you properly label it.
Lastly, do not do more than what is required. You will not lose marks but you will lose time. In such a situation the examiner will usually take the first two answers: the examiner will not select the correct answers from your list.
Hey there!!
Honestly, thankuuu for the past papers! SO MUCH HELP~~
So can you give me some tips to score marks in math? I do fine but I’d love to brush up more on my skills so I can score the best when i do my exams in the Oct/Nov series..
Hi Rainberry,
You’re welcome. 🙂
With Maths,
1. Learn and understand the key concepts and formulas. Familiarise/memorise the key equations/formulas (refer to the latest syllabus on what is expected: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ).
2. Do revision based on the latest syllabus and practice with the latest past exam papers (https://igcsecentre.com/cambridge-igcse-past-exam-papers/ ). Pay attention to the most common mistakes you always seem to make. Make notes and revise them, so you can avoid making the same mistakes in your actual exam.
Tips:
Minimize your reference checks. Try solving a problem with the formula without looking it up. You MUST do this as many times as you can. You will be able to remember the formulas/key equations better when you repeat this step.
You may be interested with our A* online revision courses. These had helped numerous students to score A* The revision course provides video tutorial, revision timetable, downloadable exam-style practices, common mistakes candidates make during the exams, and also examiners? advice. Every year we have two revision sessions. The first session will be March-April and the second one will be August-September. The registration for our March-April session is now open. You can decide if you need it now, or later. Please kindly find out the details here: https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-revision-courses/

Thanks a lot guys!!!
can we give any test for the analysis of anions or only the ones in the syllabus guide??
Hi Aditi,
We suggest that is best to follow what is in the syllabus.
You may want to contact the exam board, CAIE (https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/ ), and ask them this question. Only the exam board could give you the confirmation on the mark scheme.
Alternatively, you can always get confirmation from your school?s IGCSE exam coordinator. The exam coordinator should be able to help you in this.
for the first question on a page if we write two to four words below the lines given for the question then is the examiner going to correct that?
also, the scanning occurs pages wise or questions wise???

hi IGCSE,
i recently gave my english firt language paper two… I just wanted to check if not writing a title for an article can lead to lesser marks…
Thanks!
Hi SD,
It depends if the title is part of the requirement of the question. If the question indicate to have the title, then yes you must include the required title give in the question.
Hi can you guys add 2019 specimen paper of Feb/March
Hi Chirag,
Specimen papers are only available when there?s a change in syllabus. Specimen papers will not be available if the syllabus remains the same. Thus, the question format would be the same as previous years.
In English (0500) (paper 12) in section 1 (question-answers part) , is it ok for us to write outside the lines given in the paper because I was told that if we write outside the lines(in case if our answers are long) then we have to continue the answer on the additional page specifying the question else we’ll be penalized for writing the answer outside . If I just write 2 or 3 words exceeding and writing it outside the line then is it ok or I have to write them in the additional page.

Hi SD,
