In the grade thresholds, in biology,chemistry and physics marks are added to 200 but if we see the raw marks for component 22,42,62 the marks add up to 160. How is that possible?

160 is the total raw marks while 200 is the total weighted marks. Each component has its weighting factor. Weighting factor is the value assigned by CIE to indicate the importance of each component. Paper 6 or the Alternative to Practical paper is simply an alternative mode of assessment to Practical examination paper. It requires the same kind of practical work in preparation as the Practical Examination paper. The syllabus ( https://www.skolatis.com/cambridge-igcse-subjects-syllabuses/ ) makes it clear, in the Aims, the Assessment Objectives and Practical Assessment sections, that the course should be thought practically and that candidates should have experience of doing (rather than merely seeing) experimental work. The Alternative to Practical paper assess the practical skills, including both data handling and familiarity with standard laboratory equipment.

Hi, what if while writing the Hindi paper, The answer exceeds the line??

Most of the exam scripts are scanned and marked by the examiners in their computer. There is no penalty for going beyond the lines, however, you are risking your answers not fitting into the scanned screen. If this happens, you will lose marks as the examiners won?t be able to see your full answers.
Alternatively, you may write on the blank pages provided within the answer sheet. Any blank pages that are used by a candidate in the examinations are scanned and marked as long as you properly label it.
How do we get to know that how many point we need to compose in our answer for each question for any type of science subjects
Hello Krina,
Look at the number of marks available for a question or question part. The number of marks is usually a clue to how many different points are needed. For example, if a question has two marks allocated to it, two pieces of information are needed. However, each point has to be accurate!

what is the difference between igcse and o levels
Hi Krina,
IGCSE and O-level are of equivalent qualification. IGCSE set internationally recognised standards while O-level were developed to meet specific local needs. Furthermore, IGCSE uses a variety of assessment techniques to test oral and practical skills, initiative and problem-solving and application of skills, knowledge and understanding. A coursework option is available in many syllabuses, allowing schools an element of personal choice and giving teachers the chance to share in the process of assessment. On the other hand, O-level offers fewer coursework options than IGCSE. The focus of O-level languages is on writing and reading skills and there are more restricted practical test options in O-level sciences.
Choosing between IGCSE or O-level, depends on what you want to study in the future. We suggest that you check out the universities you have in mind and get the confirmation on their admission requirements.
